Anglers in the Park Rapids area are having good success, but are still accessing lakes dependent upon ice conditions.
Small bodies of water have approximately 6-8” of ice while some of the large lakes still have sections of open water. Use extreme caution and check ice thickness as you go due to variable conditions.
Anglers targeting walleye have been finding active schools in the 16-20ft range. Primary baits have been jigging spoons or shiner minnows. Sunfish and crappie have been active in the 8-12ft range with small jugs and waxworms or plastic tails doing best. Northern pike activity has been high in the same areas anglers have been encountering panfish.
