Ice conditions in the Park Rapids area have improved quickly.
Small bodies of water have 11 to 13 inches of ice while larger lakes have 7 to 11 inches. But remember ice conditions vary from lake to lake and even from area to area on one lake. Panfish anglers have been doing very well. Shallow weeds have been putting out nice crappies and sunfish, as well as the primary drop offs on the edge of the weedlines. Be sure to check panfish regulations as there are a number of lakes in our region with special panfish regulations. Northern pike have been active in those same locales as the panfish with some occasional fish roaming deeper as well. Walleye anglers have been having very good success in the 17-24 foot range with both keepable fish and numerous trophies landed this past week.
