Fall fishing is approaching fast.
But for now, the action remains steady on all area lakes—especially for Walleye.
Look for the fish in the 20-30 foot range chasing schools of bait fish. Vertical baits like a perch colored #5 Jiggin’Rap is catching the fish near the bottom. Trolling a JB Lures spinner (green/gold/glow) tipped with a small sucker minnow will also pick up these deeper walleyes.
The weed flats on most lakes are spitting up nice northern pike by trolling big spinner baits like a Northland Reed Runner over the tops of the weed beds in 6-10 ft of water. The big Bluegills are still hanging around the deep weed edges in the 12-19 ft range and can be caught using a lindy rig tipped with a leech or part of a night crawler.
