It’s election season! Woohoo! Let’s get fired up.
Not your first reaction? It’s not mine either. However, engaging earlier in the election process presents a great opportunity for community leaders, business owners, individuals. Here are four reasons to start engaging in the election process today:
1) Maximize Your Vote
In 2022, there were over 2.5 million votes in Minnesota in the general election. There were 759,456 votes in the primary, and in the 2022 caucuses, there were less than 120,000 votes across the state. Early participation provides the best opportunity to maximize your vote.
2) Caucuses Drive Party Priorities
Did you know caucuses are the best opportunity to influence party platforms? Both parties solicit resolutions from local caucuses to guide party platforms. Resolutions that garner support can have a major impact on the party’s direction and priorities at the local, state, and national levels.
3) Sharing the Voice of Business Matters
With several mandates passed in the 2023 state legislative session, many businesses have expressed frustration that they didn’t feel heard. This is the time to inform candidates and party officials about the business community and the importance of the employer-employee relationship.
4) Candidate Selection is Critical
Have you ever wished there were better candidates running for various offices? Primary elections are your chance to help decide which candidates will be on the ballot in November’s general election for partisan and non-partisan offices at all levels of government.
Caucuses are set to be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 pm, and the last day to vote in the presidential primary is March 5. Below are additional resources to help you get engaged in the local election process:
