Fishing in the Park Rapids has been very good with near ideal travel conditions.
Most lakes have very little snow and minimal slush making travel by atv, snowmobile and on some lakes, vehicle, as options. Yet don’t assume every lake can support vehicles or in all areas. Conditions vary greatly from lake to lake. Panfish anglers have been busy with lots of active fish. Weedlines and basins are where you’ll find active schools, but be sure to check the regulations for the lake you’re on since some lakes have experimental regulations that differ from statewide regulations. Anglers should always go by the individual lake’s regulations. Walleye fishing has been consistent with most anglers catching a handful of walleye each morning or evening. 17-26 feet has been best. Those chasing northern pike have had a lot of action. Shallow weeds flats have been abundant for pike whether you’re angling or spearing. Be sure to mark your calendars for the American Legion Park Rapids Fishing Derby on February 4th on Fish Hook Lake. With $125,000 in prizes, anglers have a chance to win tons of prizes!
