Fishing in the Park Rapids has been good overall with travels conditions improving.
Though plowed roads are still easiest, some lakes have solidified to where anglers can travel, even towing a wheel-house, practically anywhere. Yet slushy conditions still exist and can be cumbersome on a number of lakes.
Walleye anglers are experiencing moderate action, but with the gamefish season closing soon, now is the time to take advantage of the existing opportunities. Depths from 22-30 ft have been best.
Panfish anglers have been doing very well, especially those chasing crappies. Basin fish have been the most consistent in depths from 18-28ft.
Anglers after northern pike continue to experience awesome catches. Weed flats and deep water drop offs thick with tullibee are very good right now. One angler landed a 36” silver pike, a unique subspecies native to the Park Rapids area.
Remember, the gamefish season runs through February 27, 2022. Also, current MN fishing licenses expire on February 28, 2022.
