Boat traffic on Park Rapids area lakes has slowed dramatically due to deer season, but those who ventured out had good success.
With the unseasonably warmer temperatures, water temperatures remain stable in the high 40’s but will undoubtedly drop this week.
Walleye action was solid in 8-28 feet depending upon the body of water. A jig and minnow was reported as the best presentation. Northern pike have been active in identical areas as the walleye. Largemouth bass anglers have had great success in very shallow water on spinnerbaits and jig-n-pig presentations.
Residual vegetation like lily pads and pencil reeds have been the prime areas. Muskie anglers reported a very good weekend with numerous large fish being caught, primarily trolling. The panfish bite has been outstanding in basin areas (22-35ft) with small jigs and jigging spoons.
