Hello everyone, Happy Fall. Things are changing fast—for the good! From Leech Lake all the way over to Detroit Lakes–that puts Park Rapids in the middle! Panfish are schooling in deeper water. Look for them in the 15-30 ft range. Smallmouth bass are gathering along steep breaks near deep water. Catch them with a crawfish colored 3” tub jig on a 1/8 oz tube jig head. When in doubt—tip the jig with a night crawler. Largemouth bass are hanging on the deepest of weed lines—15-20 in the clear local lakes. Try a Stanley jig/pig combo black or brown in color. Walleyes are all over the board. Some are in deeper water 30 ft plus while others are still chomping small sunfish on shallow weed beds. An easy approach is to troll at dawn/dusk along the first break in the 8-12 ft range using a white Flicker shad. Crappies are on the deeper mud flats near steep shoreline breaks.
