Must-Eat Bites in the Park Rapids Lakes Area

We asked Park Rapids fans on Facebook where they’d recommend grabbing a bite to eat in the Park Rapids and Lake Itasca area. We received lots of responses, supplying us with a fantastic list of eateries and tips, including recommendations on what to order off the menus.

Food

Here is part 1 of the must-try restaurants in the Park Rapids Lakes area, as suggested by residents and visitors who would know! In no particular order, here are some of the most popular responses.

Zhateau Zorbaz

If you love an easy atmosphere where you can go for pizza or Mexican in one spot, Zorbaz is for you. You must be able to handle reading all words that contain “S”s respelled with Z’s, and not take yourself too seriously. “When you think Zorbaz, we want you to be zmiling ear to ear with pizza and burrito thoughtz in your head. We are a great timez Mexican and Pizza Joint!”

Companeros

This Mexican place in Dorset is an integral part of the warm-weather lifestyle and the local community, and as Gina W. recommends, you must order the “margaritas & fried ice cream/mud balls from Companeros.”

The Good Life Cafe

When asked for their favorite menu item, one fan named Chris E. answered simply: “Just about anything at the Good Life Cafe, but especially the Thai Peanut Butter Burger.” In the heart of downtown Park Rapids, the Good Life Cafe uses fresh ingredients that are often locally-sourced. We love their welcoming take on how to treat their customers, saying “The Good Life Cafe: where you’re a stranger only once. Because eating out is about more than just food, we ask you to slow down, enjoy your surroundings, and allow us to show you Up North hospitality.” With amazing craft beers and a menu that appeals to everyone, their Up North hospitality is easy to enjoy.

Great Northern Café

This Park Rapids mainstay has been serving traditional American food along the Great Northern Railway route since 1972. Patrons come from all around, especially for the breakfast. As Cathy K. recommends: “Breakfast at Great Northern Cafe, especially their biscuits and gravy…they’re to die for.”

LaPasta Italian Eatery

If you want a full menu of authentic Italian meals, LaPasta is calling your name. From shrimp, pasta, and chicken dishes to delicate meals that use pesto and portobellos just right, they live up to their wish: “We want your dining experience to be unique and wonderful.” Plus, head there in the morning for an unusual breakfast menu like you’ve never seen before. Mandy L. recommends the “potato pancakes & paninis at La Pasta” above everything else in the area!

Stay tuned for more tips from the locals on where to eat in our area. We hope you’re hungry!
