Minnesota Fishing Guide Service’s Report – 06.21.18

crappiesThe fishing in the Park Rapids area has been hot just like the weather!

Bluegills are still on their spawning beds and the Crappies are out in the newly formed weed flats not far from where they were spawning a few weeks ago. Fan casting a small Jig tipped with a minnow or a plastic tail will produce crappies throughout the entire day.

Try to fish between five and 10 feet of water. While fishing remains good in the 10 to 15 foot depth range in all of the area lakes. A live bait rig with a nightcrawler or leech or a minnow will do the job.

Try a red number for hook to increase your chances. Work the deep weed edges or newly formed weeds on shallow sunken island there are fish there also. Trolling a white crank bait towards sunset will also produce fish on the edges of shallow flats close to deepwater.

Try to troll in around 10 feet of water.
