Fishing Report 3-1-22

The primary challenge on the lakes within our area is travel.

*Some lakes are very slushy while others simply have a large amount of snow. Vehicle travel is only possible on plowed roads. *

With the gamefish season coming to a close, anglers in the Heartland Lakes area are on the hunt for crappies, sunfish, perch, tullibee and burbot, though the two species primarily targeted are sunfish and crappie. Most of those panfish are currently inhabiting basin areas. The depth of those fish varies from lake to lake and ranges from the mid teens to over 40 feet deep. The activity of those fish elevates during the period surrounding sun-up and sun-down, though mid-day fish can still be caught. Small jigs and spoons tipped with maggots or max worms have been more successful than crappie minnows. For more information contact Jason Durham of Go Fish! Guide Service at 218-252-2278
