Minnesota Fishing Guide Service’s Fishing Report 7.2.19

Walleye

Park Rapid is on fire—especially the big walleyes.

After numerous catches this week of big walleyes (6 lbs plus), the charts were topped with a beautiful 30” 11 lb. monster! Eaters and big fish are on the chomp-I’m talkin’ day bites—not night fishing.

Fish the weed lines with red tail minnows and jigs—working the bait aggressively in the 12-15ft depths. Green ¼ oz. jigs seem to be the best. The bass are on the prowl on weedy flats in the 5-10ft range. Use white spinner baits or natural colored crank baits fished slowly through the weeds.

Northern Pike? Well they are aggressive as usual. Speed troll spinner baits above the weeds and enjoy bonus bass as well. Chartreuse color is hard to beat!

Lotsa Fish! Lotsa Fun! Minnesota Fishing Guide Service, Captain Josh Hagemeister.
