Minnesota Fishing Guide Service’s Report – 05.31.18

crappie

Capt. Josh & a Crappie

Smallmouth Bass are in shallow getting ready to spawn as well as the Largemouth—so the shallow bite is on! They will hit about anything!

Please release the Bass!! Other fish are better table fair—like Crappies which about done spawning—however on some lakes the can still be found in the shallows—you have to check on each lake to be sure.

The walleyes are finally coming off the minnow bite so the leeches and crawlers are starting to get effective along with the new weed lines shooting up because of the warm weather. Use a live bait rig tipped with a medium leech or a crawler.

Bluegills are starting to gather around new lily pad beds and are easy to catch using bobbers/leeches. Northern Pike are cruising the shallow weedy flats so trolling a shallow running minnow bait like a Rapala will boat these aggressive fish!

Lotsa Fish! Lotsa Fun! Minnesota Fishing Guide Service, Capt Josh Hagemeister
