Minnesota Fishing Guide Service’s Report – 05.17.18

delicious bass

Catch yourself a delicious bass with a fly rod.

The panfish are in the shallows and so are the Bass.

Nothing but good times catching Bass and panfish on fly rods in the shallows!  Look for the spawning beds in the 1-6 ft range. If you don’t have a fly rod, then pitch 1/16 white jigs tipped with a Crappie Minnow or a small plastic grub.

The Walleyes are still shallow in most lakes and will be through Memorial day. Look for them in the 4-10ft range. Use a 1/8 oz. white/blue jig tipped with a lake or spot tail shiner—not a golden shiner!  Drag it slowly on the bottom and feel for a soft bite. Lighted slip bobbers and a leech will also work during night time hours.
