Celebrate Saint Urho Day
Saint Urho is a mythical Finnish-American hero. He originally came from Northern Minnesota in the 1950’s and represents chasing grasshoppers out of ancient Finland. According to legend, this helped the crops of grapes and the vineyard works. The Park Rapids Lakes Area celebrates Saint Urho Day March 16-18 with a large celebration for the entire community. It involves a parade, live music, food, and lots of fun for the whole family.
Minnesota Bike Opener
Another fun event for the entire family is the Minnesota Bike Opener. It is a free event for anyone to join. It celebrates everything bike related on the amazing Heartland Trail. Get your family and bikes ready for this fun event on May 19th.
Second Street Stage Summer Music Series
A great all summer-long event is the 2nd Street Summer Music Series. It begins June 14th and continues every Thursday through August 16th. It is a free summer music series for the entire family that involves live music, a beer garden, kid activities, and much more! Get your family together and head on down to Main Avenue any Thursday during the summer from 6 PM – 8 PM to enjoy the fun! You can view the band schedules here.
Park Rapids Authorfest
Last but certainly not least, bookworms will love the annual Park Rapids Authorfest. It is a great event featuring Minnesota authors reading, discussing, and promoting their books. It’s a great, kid-friendly event that will inspire many to continue to read during their childhood and even as adults.
