Ice fishing in the Park Rapids area is good. Ice conditions are good for ATV or snowmobile travel. Small vehicle travel will begin in about a week. There is currently 9-11 inches of ice on area lakes. Pan fish and pike can be found around the shallow green weed beds. Small ice flies tipped with a wax worm has been producing. Glow white has been the best color. Big sucker minnows rigged on a quick strike rig suspended about 2 ft. off the bottom in the 7-12 ft. depth range is a sure bet. Some bigger pike are roaming the mud flats in the 25-foot range chasing the perch which can be caught on a bobber with a crappie minnow on a plain hook about 10” off the bottom. The walleye action has been best at dusk using perch colored jigging spoons along the deep weed line which is still in good shape. Those depths can range from 12-17 feet deep. Tip the jigging spoons with a small minnow head. Good Luck out there, Capt. Josh Minnesota Fishing Guide Service 218-732-9919 www.minnesotaicefishhouserental.com
