Weekly Fishing Report – 1.7.14
Submitted by Smokey Hills Outdoor Store
Most of the slush and water on top of the ice is now frozen. Fish Hook Lake has good ice, the west side of the lake has ice as thick as 18” while the east side in front of the Assembly Grounds has around 14”. Potato Lake has an average of 14” of good ice. Fish houses are showing up in greater numbers on Upper Bottle, Lower Bottle, Big Sand and Mantrap Lakes although none of these have seen truck traffic yet. Large pike and smaller walleyes are being caught on the main bar on the west side of Lower Bottle Lake in 8 to 12 feet of water. A road has been plowed on Emma Lake and trucks have been driving out, this lake is usually good for one to two decent sized walleyes a night. The bar on the east side of the lake or near the current on the southeast corner are both producing fish. Typical patterns are starting to fall into place with peak walleye catching times from 3pm to 6pm and 7am to 9am. Stop by the store for more detailed and lake specific reports and techniques. See you soon!
