The word for the week in the Park Rapids Heartland Lakes area is “crappies”!
Anglers have been successful targeting deep basins in 18-24ft, especially around the low light periods and after dark. For those wanting to chase gamefish, your time is limited as the season comes to a close following this weekend. Walleye anglers are doing best near main lake humps and points in depths ranging from 18-28 ft. Those looking to land a last minute northern pike should locate standing vegetation along shallow to mid depth flats. Bluegill have been situated in both shallow and deep water, but it won’t be long until they start moving toward shallow, weedy bays.
