With ultra cold temperatures over the past week, fish activity in the Park Rapids
area slowed dramatically. However, with consistent, warmer temperatures predicted
over the next ten days, activity should increase dramatically. Sunfish have been most
prevalent in mid-depth weeds, while crappies have been most consistently biting
suspended over soft-bottomed basin areas. Northern pike have been biting well in
shallow to mid depth vegetation with some bigger fish reported this week by those
both angling and spearing. Walleyes have been sporadic with low light periods
proving best. 20-28ft have been good depths to target.
