Celebrate a fantastic 4th of July in Park Rapids

Fourth of July Parade Fire trucks

The 4th of July Parade in Park Rapids features flags, fire trucks, floats, festivals and fido. Find out why thousands come to watch every year. This year’s theme, Catch a Memory, picks up on the community’s successful application to host the Governor’s Fishing Opener in 2013. The Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber sponsors the parade that starts at 5 p.m. on North Main Avenue, marches south on Main and proceeds west on 5th Street.

Outdoor Music

From the Firecracker Footrace and lake flotillas to picnics, family reunions and fun on the water, the 4th of July in Park Rapids rings in Independence Day from dawn to dusk. After the parade, crowds come to Red Bridge Park to hear the Park Rapids Area Community Band Pre-fireworks Concert and settle in for the Rotary Club fireworks display over the Fish Hook River or head to the Jokela Rodeo Grounds for another great PBR event.

Minnesota’s largest Rodeo extravaganza

Rodeo fans can look ahead to double-barreled action over the 4th of July in Park Rapids: Professional Bull Riding and Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association-sanctioned Rodeo.

The Upper Midwest’s largest PBR will return Wednesday and Thursday, July 4-5 with an all-star cast of the greatest bull riders and bucking bulls in the world. The PBR pits a wiry 150-pound cowboy on the back of a hulking, snorting temperamental 2,000-pound bull to see if he can ride the beast for an eternal eight seconds...with one hand strapped to the bull's massive backside! Spectators not only see one of the country's top bull rides, but enjoy kids’ sheep riding, nightly dances, clowns and bullfighters along with the thrilling and popular Freestyle Aerial Moto X halftime show.

On the heels of this great event, Jokela ProWest will bring two days of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo, featuring America’s classic events: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing. Cowboy athletes, skilled horses and riders, and arena action will entertain spectators Friday and Saturday, July 6-7. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the shows begin at 6:30 p.m. Log on to parkrapidsbullride.com for tickets and information.
