Snellman

Snellman snuggles against the Smoky Hills on Highway 34. Today it offers places to stop and shop and view the beautiful Gethsemane Lutheran Church on the hillside. The village once had a creamery, hardware store and several houses. In 1982 Laurie Saarinen put Snellman on the map when she won the title of Miss Minnesota and went on to compete as one of the 10 finalists in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. Area residents roll out the red carpet for visitors to Snellman Days over Labor Day weekend.
