Where Beauty & Nature Intersect

April 2015, Spring’s footprints appear

About all that remains from winter are small patches of white in shady spots, tree debris lost in a wrestling match with ice, wind and snow, and thinning lake ice.

April might still bring anything the weather department can produce, but the snow will cease, lawns will be cleared and the ice will retreat. A Flower & Garden Home Show will assure us summer will bloom.

Like gardeners deciding what to plant where this season, community groups are planning for summer and organizing festivals and events. The Northern Light Opera Company is auditioning for West Side Story. The Downtown Business Association has scheduled the bands for 2nd Street Stage. The Chamber events committee is working on Legends and Logging Days.

We invite you to plan your vacation or visit us often this season. The Park Rapids Lakes Area offers many ways to Catch a Memory whether you are from out of town or out of state. In addition to a full calendar of festivals and events, more than 400 lakes, forest land and Minnesota’s first state park, home of the Mississippi headwaters, make this a family destination like no other.

Resorts and other lodging accommodations in the Park Rapids area invite guests to stay at the center of this extraordinary region and will help visitors realize their dream vacation whether it’s lying on the beach with a good book, venturing out to explore the local landscape or timing a stay to take in local festivals or cultural events. The Chamber website can also assist with your plans and offers a way to order your picture-packed Discovery Guide.

It is part of life here that we are optimists at the beginning of each new season and its progression of change. Our accommodations become your personal retreat and our wonderful community is your home away from home. If you don’t want to wait for summer, April can be a quiet time for a leisurely visit to see nature in transition, shop or just relax.
